I'm Mark Koester, an indie producer building Playback Pilot alongside my own music. I release under Stellar Mammals, six albums of lofi and ambient stuff, mostly from a bedroom studio. I used Playback Pilot to organize, iterate, and finish my seventh album (Palm Tree Party, landing later this month). Playback Pilot exists because I needed it myself: I was losing tracks across folders, drives, and years, and no tool respected the way I actually work.

Playback Pilot 1.0 becomes paid soon, as a one-time purchase. If you've been using the alpha, 1.0 is free for you — I said alpha testers would get the best deal when pricing came around, and free is the best deal I've got. Beyond 1.0, we'll ship the occasional bigger upgrade; your input below shapes what lands first.
What's ahead+
- A few more releases to 1.0. Focus is stable, working, honest. Not perfect.
- The alpha stays free until then. And every build you've downloaded keeps working on your machine. It's a local app — nothing gets switched off.
- If you've used the alpha, 1.0 is free. Haven't installed it yet? Install it and give it a run before September 30 and you're in the same boat. That's not a loophole — I'd rather you had it.
- 1.0 becomes paid. One-time purchase. Mac + Windows. Runs locally, yours to keep. Everyone on the list gets a founding price at launch.
- Bigger upgrades down the road. Substantial new capabilities land as separate paid upgrades; existing owners get a discount. Fixes and small additions stay free.
