Playback Pilot is built for producers wherever and however they work — even when that means taking your work somewhere else. No lock-in. This update makes that real.

• 🆕 Export everything in one tap. Your catalog, notes, check-ins, and each track's history come out as spreadsheets you can open anywhere, plus the full database. Nothing in there you can't read or take with you.

• 🆕 Backups you can now see. PBP already backs up your catalog before every update. Now you can browse them, make one yourself anytime, and restore any of them — a restore takes effect the next time you open the app.

• The catalog takes care of itself. Attach an audio file from anywhere and it stays put. Move a folder and PBP finds everything again, shows you first, then re-links it. If something really is gone, it stays marked missing. Interrupted scans finish on the next launch.

• Cloud files, quietly handled. You can see which of your files are in the cloud, and pull any of them down with a tap. And adding a cloud folder never downloads your library behind your back.

• Two fixes worth naming. Bounces inside a Logic project's Bounces/ folder now belong to the song, not the folder, and old ones get fixed automatically (the known gap from last release). And a finished-but-unreleased track now says "Finished", not "Released".

• Privacy, spelled out. The privacy policy and terms are right in the app. Deleting your data tells you exactly what happens, on your machine and off it. Crash reports never include your file paths.

As always: Playback Pilot never renames, moves, or deletes your files.

This update organizes a song from done to out. Cover art on your albums and singles, credits for everyone on the record, a release view that shows what's left, and once a track ships, Playback Pilot hides your session and finishing tools and simplifies what you see.

• Mark Your Album Singles. Putting a song out ahead of the album? Mark it a single, and it stays on the tracklist and carries its own art and release details.

• 🆕 Add Credits. Easily note who contributed, played, produced, and mixed what — per song and across the album — so liner notes, release credits and split sheets are easy to pull together when you release.

• Release ready checklist. An album heading out shows what's left: tracks, art, details. A shipped album keeps a record. A released track now rests and can be reopened for revisions in one tap.

• Performance & Scanning Improvements. Big catalogs and rescans no longer freeze the rest of the app. And Logic, GarageBand and Studio One project files are now read the way Ableton's always were — one project, not the raw takes stored inside the file. (One known gap: bounces kept in a Bounces/ subfolder inside a project folder aren't linked to their track yet.)

Playback Pilot has always helped you organize what's in your folders. This update is about hearing it: play your catalog back as a listening session built for taking notes and making calls. And when a place's catalog has drifted, you can now clear it and start over.

• 🆕 Audition & Review. Tap Hear what we found on home, or the headphones on any album, and Playback Pilot plays it through as a sitting: add notes, update todos, or adjust the stage while auditioning the latest audio. Each track ends in a pause for your call, then plays the next. Finish with a recap of what you heard and what you decided, plus a second lap for anything you skipped.

• 🆕 Clear a place and start over. A place gone messy in your catalog? Clear this place's catalog shows exactly what would go, warns loudest when notes or sessions are at stake, then clears it and stops watching. Watch again and scan rebuilds it fresh in one tap.

• Pinned audio you can trust. Pin a version and every play surface honors it, auditions included. And when a newer bounce lands after you pinned, the track says so right on the card, with one tap to switch. No more silently playing an old mix.

• Fixes and polish. A renamed file no longer freezes Play All. Albums play from home again. New bounces in a masters folder attach to their songs instead of duplicating them. Ratings play through the same player as everything else, and your listening history now decides what an audition plays first.

Playback Pilot never renames or moves your files and folders. Instead the app reads your folders as they already are and builds a working list on top of them. This update is about the moments PBP can't guess or guesses them wrong. Now you can set directory organizational preferences that stick so your folder setup holds as your catalog grows.

• Say what a folder is, once. One album. Samples. Backups. Your DAW's own files. Playback Pilot regroups around your answer and stops guessing at that folder. Your defined folder setup becomes a stable organization system.

• An album arriving as three albums? Open Catalog Review, choose "One album", and it regroups for good.

• The same song showing up twice? Merge the two and they stay merged, through rescans and through renaming the files or the folder.

• Sensible Suggestions. What shows up on a track comes from your own work's history: a date you set, a note you left, session files newer than your last bounce. Nothing to suggest? It's now quiet by default.

• You're not being graded. Empty progress bars and "No rating" are gone from track cards you haven't judged yet. A card simply shows what the track is: its name, its stage, something you wrote, or when you last touched it.

• 🆕 Nudges. Need a nudge to help you remember or move forward on a music project? PBP now has nudges which you can set yourself on any track.

• Set a finish date, get one reminder. Move a track to a new stage and you're asked when you want it done. Optionally add a nudge so you get reminded before.

• Also fixed. Released tracks count as finished everywhere. Renaming or moving a folder no longer breaks scanning. First-run import is quieter and honest about what it found.

Three years in, your music isn't in one tidy folder. It's across drives, in the cloud, in folders that come and go, renamed and exported and reorganized more times than you'd care to count. This release teaches Playback Pilot to hold all of that.

• Your folders are places, and you can see all of them. Settings has Your places: every folder Playback Pilot watches, what's inside it, and whether it can be reached right now. Unplug the drive an album lives on and that place reads Offline, with the reason, instead of your files being reported as gone. Stop watching a folder and it stays in the list, greyed, with your catalog untouched. Watch again picks it back up.

• What "watching" actually means. For each folder you add, Playback Pilot notices new bounces, renders and DAW projects as they appear, and follows files you rename or move so their history stays attached. It only reads — nothing on disk is renamed, moved, or deleted.

• Add a folder and see what we found. Adding a place now shows you what was read: the works, their types, and a chance to fix the grouping before you move on. Add several at once and they queue on your list to review when you like.

• It remembers which drive each file is on. Every file records the volume it came from, so an external drive or a cloud folder is something Playback Pilot understands rather than an edge case it trips over. Groundwork for working properly across several drives.

• Your catalog stays right the more you use it. Scanning again no longer adds tracks that were never there, versions of one song stay one track, and a renamed folder keeps its history. Rebuild clears out anything an earlier version left behind, tells you how many entries it set aside, and shows its progress instead of going quiet on a large catalog.

• The Session button starts a session now. Tapping Session on the home screen used to open a menu whose three options all led somewhere else — the timer behind it was unreachable. It now opens a short list: anything you'd scheduled, what you worked on last, or search. Pick a track and the timer starts. A running session stays visible from wherever you are in the app, so you can wander off and still find your way back to it.

• Work sessions hold on to what you write. Ending a session and tapping Skip used to quietly discard the reflection you'd just typed. It doesn't anymore — your words land on the track, whichever button you leave by. And tapping a session notification now opens that session ready to start, not just the track it belongs to.

• Quieter fixes. Rescan and Rebuild now say what each one does where you press it, so you can tell them apart. Folders keep their permissions through a scan that can't reach them. Pop-up panels no longer squeeze themselves into an unreadable sliver on a wide window. Stage deadlines show up where you'd expect. Data & Files is two doors instead of five, and neither opens onto nothing.

Heads-up for existing users: if a folder lost permission at some point, reconnect it in Settings → Your places. It'll stick now. If your catalog picked up duplicate or phantom tracks from an earlier version, a Rebuild clears them out and tells you how many it set aside.

Two demos or two hundred tracks, sitting down with your music starts the same way: seeing what's actually there. This release puts your whole catalog in one list, every track with its stage and whether it's waiting on someone or something. Stop hunting. Sit down with your music with peace of mind you can find tracks and do what you need to do as a producer.

• Your whole catalog in one list. Every track shows its album, stage, whether it's waiting or close to done. Check on and update your latest tracks based on when you last touched them. Search, sort by recent, or filter for anything in your catalog. Then make decisions and moves. Every stage update has an Undo, including bringing back a track you've archived.

• Steer your tracks by changing a stage without leaving the list. Tap a track's stage to set it, or hit Advance for the next one. Both directions, both undo, no celebration for either. Imports arrive with no stage set — new tracks land in a New in lens where you set them one by one or a whole album at once.

• Setup shows you what it found. After the scan of your first folder, you now land on "Your catalog, mapped" — the folders, what each one is, and honest counts (a folder of loose audio reads as files, not tracks). Add more folders in the same breath, pull one back before you commit. Extras arrive as one collection, not a pile of meaningless albums. No confetti, no checklist. Just a unified place for your whole catalog.

• Your DAW is recognized. All 15 project formats are now recognized on import and as you add new tracks and sessions, including Cubase, Studio One, Cakewalk, Audition, Audacity, Maschine, Mixcraft, VCV Rack, plus older Pro Tools and Reason. Multiple project files in one folder come in as separate tracks.

• Quieter fixes. A moved album keeps the grouping you gave it. Stale folder paths repair themselves. Loose audio files at the top of a folder import correctly. File moves and folder renames show up in the track's Recent Activity. A rebuild no longer empties a folder it couldn't read.

Heads-up for existing users: if Playback Pilot loses permission to a folder, re-pick it in Settings → File Monitoring to restore access.

Playback Pilot has always tried to help you find the tracks worth finishing. But until now it had to do that from a limited perspective, without a real picture of the files on your disk. This release changes that foundation. PBP now reads your directory tree directly, mirrors it, and builds detection and file monitoring on top. The result is a truer catalog that stays aligned with what you actually have and gives you straightforward controls to steer what belongs in your Vault and Active Projects. Translation: PBP notices from the files what you are working on, so you can keep your music moving and hold that forward momentum as it happens.

• Import lands you on your catalog (not on your dashboard). After the folder scan, you see every album and track the app found, with clear controls to fix, group, or exclude any folder. Confirm what reads right and continue with a catalog you can trust. Set the type per folder — album, single, collection.

• Detection now understands your real folder shapes. Odd-shaped folders — DAW project bundles, loose top-level files, deeply-nested mixdowns — now import as they actually are (not just the tidy stuff).

• You steer what belongs in your catalog. Mark any folder Skip or Ignore and it stays put on disk but stops appearing in PBP. Hide those old session dumps, sample libraries, work you're not ready to look at. Restorable anytime, at onboarding or in Catalog Review.

• Rescan grows your catalog. Rebuild aligns it. Two file monitoring options for different needs. A Rescan adds new albums and tracks it finds since the last scan. A Rebuild brings an older folder onto the current model when you want to freshen how it reads. Your check-ins, todo's, notes, and focus pins stay put. Nothing on disk gets touched.

Under the hood, this is the foundation the arc of creation and finishing gets built on. From here, the flows and surfaces that follow can meet you where you are in your process, when you are. From ideation to revision to musically done to releases, PBP helps you navigate and get there with your music.

• A calmer home. Open Playback Pilot and you see what to work on next — not a wall of stats and charts. We cleared the panels that had piled up (stat grids, a tips feed, status charts) and moved your main actions — Session · Scan · Sort & Rate — to the top. What's left is what matters: your focus track, and your catalog.

• See your whole setup at a glance. File monitoring now opens to a clear picture — what's Active vs Paused, plus a running count of your folders, tracks, and audio files. Tap a folder to jump straight to its album, and tapping Scan from the home takes you right there.

• Move a track forward without leaving the Vault. Tap Advance on any track and pick its stage — one tap, no drilling in.

• Waiting on someone? A new Waiting status for tracks that aren't stalled — they're waiting on a mix-back, a feature verse, a sample clear. Mark a track Waiting with an optional reason; it sits between in-progress and done in your catalog.

• What You Got Done — now per track and per album. Producing music is mostly invisible work. Sessions end, stages advance, demos get rendered, tracks get kept or cut — and a week later it's hard to remember any of it happened. PlaybackPilot quietly tracks every meaningful step you take on your music — sessions logged, stages advanced, keep/cut decisions, new bounces, ratings — and surfaces them in the "What you got done this week" recap. You'll see it on the dashboard, on Track Detail, and on Album Detail.
• "Released" and "Cut" tracks count toward album progress. Mark a track as Released or Cut and your album's "X/N tracks complete" counter ticks up immediately. (Reported by Tool OnDaBoards 2026-06-18 — thanks!)
• Missing-file recovery from the Files view. Tap a missing audio row's refresh icon. If the file's been moved or renamed elsewhere, the app finds it and re-links automatically.
• Steadier UI during heavy work. Importing or syncing a large catalog no longer makes dashboard cards shimmer behind the "Bulk update" pill. Album rescans commit as one transaction instead of several. Editing album settings while a background rescan touches the same album no longer clobbers those updates.
• No "What's New" wall ambushing returning users. Installed PlaybackPilot a while back, walked away, coming back today? Finishing onboarding no longer drops you into a stack of accumulated changelog modals.

• Pin and archive your notes — Pin the notes that matter most so they float to the top, and archive the ones you're done with — they tuck behind a "Show archived (N)" filter chip. Works on both track and album notes.
• Search the Vault by audio file name — Searching "red hornet" finds the track whose audio file is Red_Hornet_Mix.wav, and the result card shows you exactly which file matched.
• Find and merge duplicates — PlaybackPilot now flags possible duplicate tracks in the album list and on the track detail screen, with a guided flow to merge them. A full catalog duplicate audit lives in Settings → Data & Files.
• Missing folder recovery — Moved or renamed a folder? PlaybackPilot now tells you when an album's or track's folder has gone missing and offers recovery options: Choose new folder, Reveal in Finder, Re-check, or Dismiss. And relinks stick — pick a new folder, tap Rescan, and the new path holds.
• What you got done this week — Your last 7 days at a glance on the dashboard — sessions, new bounces, stage changes, ratings, and keep/cut decisions — with a tap through to the full picture in Insights.
• Steadier home screen — and a snappier launch — Momentum cards stay still during heavy iCloud sync, and the dashboard repaints once on startup (and after a folder relink) instead of dozens of times.
• Cleaner first launch — Tell us what you're after and how you work, and the dashboard surfaces what matters first. No tip wall, no stale "What's New" popups.

We're laying the plumbing for larger catalogs — especially for organized pros and studio managers. Mac file monitoring now survives renames and moves, and your dashboard adapts to the intent you picked during onboarding.

The score rolls up five signals — your check-in progress (35%), stage (20%), render velocity (20%), listen engagement (15%), and recency (10%). Tap any track to see the Momentum Breakdown card: per-signal bars that show exactly which signal is lagging, so you know what to push on.
• Closest-to-Done on the dashboard — Your Active tracks ranked by momentum score, with the ones most likely to finish at the top. Paused, Cut, and Released tracks are filtered out automatically, so your attention goes where progress actually happens.
• Bulk triage in Review Track Status — Four tabs (Active / Paused / Cut / Done), per-tab search, shift-click range select, and bulk Move to / Delete.
